Monday 22nd May 2006 10:00pm - 12:00am (midnight) AEST

Our 100th show! I'll be playing some of your favourites, and some of mine.

Jeff Beck - Jeff

How can you not love Jeff Beck? Older than your dad yet still one of the most creative guitar heroes out there. Here's Plan B from his CD of a couple of years ago.

Al Di Meola / Paco De Lucia - Friday Night in San Francisco

Let's not forget the other player on this album, John McLaughlin, but on this track he sits it out. Mediterranean Sundance / Rio Ancho is a phenomenal track by these two masters. An all-time favourite of mine, and yours too I think.

Mattias IA Eklundh - Freak Guitar

One of the new breed of scarily talented guitarists. I'll play a cut or two from this CD as well as its followup.

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys

Scorching! The legend at his peak (well, OK, he was always at his peak), with Machine Gun.

The Hideous Sun Demons - The Hideous Sun Demons

This band, featuring the talented Toshi Hiketa on guitar, along with the equally talented Ray Luzier on drums and James LoMenzo on bass, play with David Lee Roth. On this CD, however, they unleash a barrage of incredible, sophisticated rock that they wouldn't otherwise be able to express in the confines of a vocal band. Rain is one my favourite tracks.

Joel Hoekstra - The Moon is Falling

Joel is inventive and playful, and his tunes are great. This is his second CD; and it's a masterpiece. The track I'll play for you is Euphoria.

Shawn Lane / Jonas Hellborg / Jeff Sipe - Temporal Analogues of Paradise

Yep, I'm going to play all 32 minutes of the 1st Movement. Next week I'll play the 2nd one. You lucky people you!

Yngwie Malmsteen - Trilogy

It's no secret that I prefer the instrumentals, and fortunately Yngwie manages a couple on each CD. Here's Crying for your listening pleasure.

Jason Sadites

Here's a little number that Jason recorded with the talented Bissonette brothers, Gregg and Matt. It's called Fluid.

Joe Satriani - The Extremist

With such an extensive back catalogue, it's both hard and easy to choose a classic Satch track. Hard, because there are so many to choose from; easy, because any choice would be great. Here's War.

Steve Vai - Passion and Warfare

See my notes on Joe Satriani above. Same applies here. The Animal is a nice one.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Live at Carnegie Hall

A blistering live version of the classic Testifyin'.
