Monday 14th March 2005 10:00pm - 12:00am (midnight) ADST

The theme this week... Long songs. Most of these run for eight minutes or more... I hope to fit them all in!

Al Di Meola / John McLaughlin / Paco De Lucia - Friday Night In San Francisco

This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and also evokes memories of one of the best concerts I ever went to. Enjoy Short Tales of the Black Forest.

Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists - Live!

I find this really relaxing. Fripp is a favourite of mine. Isn't it nice to listen to something a little different? Here's The New World.

Brett Garsed - Big Sky

Australia's very own... Check him out this weekend at the Frankston International Guitar Festival, and pick up one of his brand new instructional DVDs while you're down there.

Here's Drowning from his solo CD.

Hess - Opus 2

Here's a CD that should satisfy all the guitar lovers out there. It features not one, but two awesome guitar players: Tom Hess and Mike Walsh.

I'll play The Cynic, the Sad, and the Fallen for ya.

Allan Holdsworth - Against the Clock

They don't come much better than Allan. Here's Low Levels High Stakes from the newly released 2CD compilation.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force

Oh come on... You secretly like Malmsteen but you won't admit it. I know. You are not alone. There should be a support group.

Here's Icarus' Dream Suite, Op. 4 for your listening pleasure.

Vinnie Moore - Subdivisions

This is a Rush tribute CD, featuring many different guitarists. Some of the versions of these classic songs work better than others.

I guess that it also depends on what Rush means to you. They were one of my favourite bands growing up, and the 2112 album was the first of theirs that I bought. It had a profound impact on me.

Here's Vinnie Moore doing 2112: Overture / The Temples of Syrinx.

John Petrucci & Jordan Rudess - An Evening With

I guess you could say that Rush were the first prog-metal band, and Dream Theater were the last. Here's a track, Truth, by two guys from that band.

Rush - Exit… Stage Left

Speaking of Rush, here's a live version of La Villa Strangiato.

Joe Satriani - Is There Love In Space?

Looks like I'm interviewing Joe at the end of this week :) In the meantime, I hope you enjoy Searching from his latest CD.

Steve Vai - Sex & Religion

Not his most highly rated album, but I love it! Especially this song: Rescue Me or Bury Me.

Neil Zaza - Melodica

This CD has fast made it to the top of my list recently. I'm only sorry I didn't get hold of it sooner. I Can See Miracles is a lovely song, as are all the songs here.
