Sunday 4th April 2004 2:00am - 6:00am

Check back here over the next few days for updates. I'll keep adding to this list till right before the show.

Sam Aliano - eMalgamation
Drummer Sam Aliano teams up with guitarists Marcel Yammouni and Brett Garsed for some Slanky Panky.

Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow
I've been playing a lot of recent stuff by Jeff; so for a change, here's an old favourite: Constipated Duck.

Bryan Beller - View
Every now and again, an album arrives that holds you in its grasp and shakes the complacency and jadedness right out of you. This is one such album.

Bassist Bryan Beller, along with some remarkable guest musicians, delivers an immensely satisfying CD. I'll play Seven Percent Grade for you, which features Rick Musallam on guitar and Mike Keneally on piano, and Joe Travers on drums. If I have time I might play one or two other tracks as well.

Ivan Bertolla - Beyond the Skies Eternity
A Melbourne guy, Ivan writes orchestral guitar instrumentals. Beyond the Skies Eternity is the title track from his CD. I hope you like it.

Bremen Town Musicians - Marijuana Girl
Don't know a great deal about these guys, but I like this CD. Atomic Wheel's one you should enjoy.

Roy Buchanan - When a Guitar Plays the Blues
A masterful player, and an absolute joy to listen to. Here's the title track, When a Guitar Plays the Blues.

Roy Buchanan - Guitar On Fire
I just have to play some more Roy for ya. I'm in that kind of mood. Here's Ramon's Blues.

Larry Carlton / Steve Lukather - No Substitutions
These guys are both amazing and legendary players. Room 335 is a good track off this live CD.

David T. Chastain - Guitar Master
The Diginet Music Guitar Master series is where a bunch of guitarists each get to record over the same backing tracks, and then we get to hear what each guitarist's interpretation is. I've chosen to play Cruel Heart, and I'll also play Joe Stump's version of the same track. I might also play So Alone.

Deep Purple - Deep Purple
This classic album has been re-released with some bonus tracks. I'm gonna play a couple for ya, both recorded as part of BBC sessions.

Here's Emmaretta and The Painter.

Electrocution 250 - Electric Cartoon Music From Hell
Without a doubt, listening to this CD is the most fun you can have with headphones on. Fletcher The Mouse and Funky Lizard are mouth-gapingly good, as are all the other tracks.

Laurent Fleury - Insomnia
I've played a couple of cuts off Laurent's latest CD, Contrastes, on previous shows. The guy is so good, I had to check out his first CD. All I can say is Thanks, Laurent, for giving us this great music.

It's intense relentless guitar playing just the way I like it. Piranha's a good example of what to expect.

Marty Friedman - Music For Speeding
I don't play enough stuff from this CD for you, do I? Ex-Megadeth player, now doing crazy J-pop stuff, Marty is a scarily talented guitarist.

This CD is a solo effort from a year or two ago. You'd call it progressive instrumental rock, I suppose. I hope you enjoy Corazon de Santiago.

Richard Hallebeek - Richard Hallebeek Project
A beautifully enigmatic album on the Liquid Note Records label. I'll play Canoga Park, which features guitar solos by Richard Hallebeek and Shawn Lane.

Jimi Hendrix - Blues
Acoustic version of Hear My Train Comin' confirms the mastery of the man regarded by many to be best ever guitar player.

Joel Hoekstra- Undefined
Joel's debut album heralds the arrival of a major new guitar talent. I'll be playing Kill Swing from this CD and a couple of others from his latest release.

Not only is he a formidable player, he writes some of the most interesting music you are likely to hear in the genre of guitar instrumentals.

Joel Hoekstra- The Moon Is Falling
Joel's followup to his debut album affirms his status as one of the new breed of awesome talents on the guitar. I'll play Join Us and The Great Og from this CD and one other track from his debut album.

This album is one of the most inventive I've heard in ages. If for nothing else, you should tune in just to hear this great artist.

Eric Johnson - Alien Love Child - Live and Beyond
Renown as a tone stickler, Eric is one of the few who can rightly claim to being a guitarists' guitarist, err, whatever that means. Here's a live version of Once a Part of Me.

Julien Kasper - Flipping Time
Julien has released an album with tracks that allude to some great players, but I'm not gonna tell you which ones. Check out Bigger Than You for a good one.

Albert King - I'm In a Phone Booth, Baby
One of my favourite blues artists. Maybe he's one of yours too? Phone Booth is nice.

Led Zeppelin - BBC Sessions
Here's a version of I Can't Quit You Baby that you might not be familiar with.

Mechatronix - Demo
I don't know too much about these guys, except that they are from around here somewhere. Let me know what you think of Tempes Fugit.

Mojo Stu - Good Gravy
It's blues. The kind of stuff you like. Here's the title track, Good Gravy.

Peter Mulas - Guitar Heroics
Pete's a 19-year-old Aussie guitar player with a big big future. Intencity is a good example of what you can expect from this CD.

Planet X - Live From Oz
We all know and love this awesome progressive band, especially those of you who listen to Len Davis' show Bitches Brew on Saturdays at 11am.

Since Fret Net is a guitar show, I'm going to play the Tony MacAlpine Solo.

Michael Powers - Onyx Root
If you like your blues all rootsy, you'll love this album. I do! Michael has a great blues voice and plays a mean guitar. He covers tunes by Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and others on this CD. Here's the classic Country Boy.

Project 7 - Birth Death Infinity
Dan Begelman is one of those great players who seems to be able to play anything, effortlessly. How come you've never heard of him?

This CD is one of the most rewarding albums you can listen to. I hope you enjoy Air.

Santana - Moonflower
I listened to a lot of Santana in my early teen years. This was one of my favourite albums.

Here's Black Magic Woman / Gypsy Queen and Dance Sister Dance and Europa.

Santana - Lotus
Some more Santana for you. A live version of Oye Como Va.

Eric Sardinas - Black Pearls
Eric is a fiercely talented dobro player. Here's the title track from his CD, Black Pearls.

Derek Sherinian - Black Utopia
Dream Theatre and Planet X keyboardist Derek Sherinian's masterful album features appearances by a few of the best guitarists around.

I'll try and play a few tracks if I have time, with guitarists such as Al DiMeola, Yngwie Malmsteen and Zakk Wylde.

Tony Smotherman & Brain Station - Embracing the Spirit
Tony's a player who can certainly hold his own with the shredders, but plays with great finesse and feel. Check out Prospect Hill.

Joe Stump - Guitar Master
Joe Stump is a shredder of some renown. The Diginet Music Guitar Master series is where a bunch of guitarists each get to record over the same backing tracks, and then we get to hear what each guitarist's interpretation is.

I've chosen to play Cruel Heart, and I'll also play Dave Chastain's version of the same track.

Andy Timmons - That Was Then, This Is Now
This is an excellent CD. If you don't have anything by this great guitarist in your collection, I recommend this one to start with.

Kind of a retrospective, with some previously unreleased and new tracks. Electric Gypsy is good.

Johnny Winter - Nothin' But The Blues
Johnny is still playing the blues. I'm looking forward to his new album, but in the meantime, here's some Mad Blues.

The Yardbirds - Birdland
Joe Satriani helps out on this classic from The Yardbirds newest album. Train Kept a Rollin' features Joe, and some of the other tracks on the album feature a host of other great players. Buy it, you'll like it!
